How to select your references and create a reference page.

Identify your references.
- Professional references include supervisors, co-workers, faculty, academic and club advisors, career specialists...
- Personal references who can speak to your general character community or volunteer leaders, classmates, friends, neighbors...
- Always contact your references before you list them. Ask their permission and make sure they feel comfortable being a strong reference for you.
- When an employer tell you they plan to check your references, follow up with your references and share the company name, the job title, and the key skills or strengths the employer may want to hear about.
Insert the same heading you have used on your resume and cover letter to keep your professional brand consistent.
List name, position title, how you know them (Supervisor, Colleague, Scout Leader...), company/organization, phone number, e-mail
