Learning Environment Etiquette: What expectations are there for classroom behavior?

A positive and welcoming learning environment is important for all learners. WCTC maintains a Student Code of Conduct that governs student behavior and activities across all WCTC courses and delivery formats (face to face, online, hybrid, Zoom, etc.). Use the link above to review Student Code of Conduct to learn more about those expectations.  Additional policies related to course conduct and behaviors are as follows:

AI Policy (Select 1 that best applies to this course and delete the others)

AI Usage Allowed

Students are permitted to use AI tools for homework assignments, provided they clearly cite the AI tool used and specify how it contributed to their work.

Generative AI tools are considered third-party authorship when used to assist students with assigned work.  Work submitted by a student that has been third-party authored is no longer considered work that is solely authored by the student, and may be subject to the violation of academic honesty & integrity policy above.  You must cite the use of generative AI tools within your work upon submission.  Failure to cite your work when the use of generative AI tools is suspected may result in any of the following outcomes:

  • You must further explain your work face-to-face with the instructor
  • You must recreate your work in a controlled environment
  • You must complete a similar assessment to prove competency

The overreliance on generative tools may weaken a student's understanding of the given course content.  Furthermore, the responses from generative AI tools may be incorrect if not enough context is provided to the tool, adding confusion to the overall educational experience.
